RouteIQ

Effective July 8, 2026

Privacy Policy

This policy explains how RouteIQ collects, uses, shares, and protects information when you use our mobile app, website, and related services.

Information we collect

  • Account information: your name, email address, login credentials, and account identifiers.
  • Location information: precise or approximate location while you use navigation, search nearby, plan a route, or enable location-based alerts. Background location is collected only when enabled and needed for features you choose to use.
  • Trips and activity: destinations, route stops, trip history, trip summaries, saved preferences, searches, and interactions with RouteIQ.
  • Device and usage information: app interactions, device and operating-system details, diagnostics, crash data, and identifiers collected through analytics technologies such as Firebase Analytics.
  • Support information: the details you provide when you contact us, including your name, email address, and message.

How we use information

  • Provide routes, turn-by-turn guidance, search, and nearby-place recommendations.
  • Sync your account, trip history, preferences, and saved activity.
  • Personalize proactive alerts, trip insights, and recommendations.
  • Maintain, secure, troubleshoot, measure, and improve RouteIQ.
  • Respond to support requests and communicate service-related information.
  • Comply with legal obligations and protect users, RouteIQ, and others.

How we share information

We share information only as needed to operate RouteIQ, including with hosting, mapping, routing, place-search, authentication, analytics, communications, and support providers. These may include Google services and Firebase. Providers process information under their own terms and our agreements with them.

We may also disclose information when required by law, to protect rights and safety, or as part of a merger, financing, acquisition, or sale of assets. We do not sell your personal information.

Location choices

You control location access through iOS Settings. RouteIQ’s core navigation features may not work without location permission. You can disable precise location or background access at any time, though doing so may limit navigation and proactive alerts.

Data retention

We retain account and trip information while your account is active and as reasonably necessary to provide RouteIQ. We may retain certain records longer when required for security, fraud prevention, legal compliance, dispute resolution, or enforcement. When information is no longer needed, we delete or de-identify it.

Your choices and rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or receive a copy of your personal information, or to object to or restrict certain processing. You can also manage permissions in iOS Settings. Submit a request through our support page. We may need to verify your identity before completing a request.

Security

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards designed to protect information. No method of storage or transmission is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Children’s privacy

RouteIQ is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information, contact us through our support page.

International processing

Information may be processed in the United States and other countries where we or our providers operate. Those countries may have different data-protection laws than your country of residence.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as RouteIQ evolves. We will post the revised policy here and update the effective date. If changes are material, we will provide additional notice when required.
